IPHONE APP PRIVACY · OCTOBER 23, 2026
Your garden.
Your information.
This policy describes the SproutWorth iPhone app as currently developed. It is separate from our website privacy notice. Contact us at hello@sproutworth.app with questions.
The short version
Your garden records are stored on your device. SproutWorth does not require a SproutWorth account or upload your garden to a developer-operated cloud database. Optional weather, LinkTap, and catalog-update features contact their respective providers. Backups leave the app only through the destinations or sharing actions you choose.
Garden records and photos
The app stores the details you enter, including plant and variety names, personal plant names, dates, growing settings, harvests, costs, fertilizer records, and preferences. Photos you select are copied into the app’s local storage. These records and photos are used to display your garden, calculate its recorded financial results, and provide the features you use.
Importing a photo does not give us access to your photo library. The app uses Apple’s photo selection interface for the images you choose. Local catalog search, bundled grocery-price references, and planting and harvest guidance do not send your search terms or harvest records to retailers or the developer.
Optional catalog updates
When you tap Refresh in Settings → Catalog Update, the app requests public catalog and guidance files hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address and the requested file paths. These requests do not include your plant list, location settings, photos, harvest records, or LinkTap credentials. There is no automatic catalog download at launch or during normal use.
Downloaded reference data is verified and stored locally, separate from your garden. A ready update becomes active on the next full app launch. You can cancel a pending update in Settings. Updating grocery reference prices does not rewrite saved harvest values or manual prices.
Location and weather
You can save a ZIP code and growing-zone information for location-based guidance. The app uses bundled ZIP and zone data; it does not request continuous GPS tracking. When weather is enabled and a forecast location is confirmed, forecast requests send that location’s coordinates to the U.S. National Weather Service at api.weather.gov. The provider also receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address.
The forecast coordinates represent the selected ZIP-based forecast point, not a GPS measurement of your home. Garden names, photos, costs, and harvest histories are not included in those forecast requests. Cold-tracking preferences and warning dismissals are stored locally. You can disable cold tracking in Settings.
Optional LinkTap watering
If you connect LinkTap, the app sends the username and API key you supply to LinkTap over HTTPS to list devices and perform watering commands you request. Device identifiers, watering commands, and requested durations are included as needed. LinkTap handles this information under its own terms and privacy practices.
LinkTap credentials are stored in Apple’s Keychain, separately from garden records. They are excluded from SproutWorth garden backup files. Restored gardens require an explicit reconnection rather than automatically reusing another garden’s authorization. You can disconnect LinkTap through the app’s watering settings.
Backups, restore, and copies you control
If you export a garden backup, it includes saved garden records, photos retained by the app, and allowlisted preferences needed for recovery. It excludes LinkTap passwords, API keys, and authentication tokens. You choose where to save the file, including Files or iCloud Drive. Apple or another chosen storage provider handles those files under its own policies.
SproutWorth backup files are not password-encrypted by the app. Treat them as private garden documents and share them only with trusted recipients. The app validates backups before restore and retains a previous garden generation for recovery and Undo Restore.
Your iPhone’s system backups may also contain app data depending on your Apple settings. SproutWorth does not operate or control those backups.
Archiving, deleting, and retention
Archiving a plant preserves its history. Deleting an entry removes it from normal views, but records or photos may remain locally for Undo, history integrity, or recovery. An earlier garden generation may also remain after a restore. Removing an item from view does not necessarily erase every retained copy.
You control local app data through the app and iOS. Deleting the app through iOS removes its local app container; exported files, system backups, and separately stored Keychain credentials can remain and must be managed separately. If you need help understanding which copies remain, contact us before deleting anything important.
Advertising, analytics, and support
The app does not include advertising SDKs, third-party behavioral analytics, or cross-app advertising tracking. Apple may process diagnostics according to your device and sharing settings. If you choose to contact support, we receive the email address and information you send and use it to respond. Do not send passwords, API keys, or private backups unless we arrange an appropriate way to share them.
External services and your choices
Optional services have their own privacy practices. You can use garden recordkeeping without connecting LinkTap. Weather requires a network connection, while core records and bundled references remain available locally. Links you open from the app are handled by the destination service and your browser.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the app’s data practices change and revise the date above. For questions or a request about information you have sent to us, email hello@sproutworth.app. We cannot access or remotely delete garden records that remain only on your device.
